It’s the first day of Kids Theatre Camp, which is being hosted at the Elbert Theatre.

The camp is for children in Kindergarten through fifth grades.

Currently, the Kids’ Camp is full with all thirty spaces being filled.

Elbert Theatre Director Toni King says that there is a waiting list while the first couple of days of camp are held in case any child happens to drop out.

This year’s group will be performing The Wizard of Oz on Friday May 24th to showcase what they have learned at camp.

King says that more goes into Theatre Camp than just preparing for the performance.

“On top of the show we try and teach them a little bit about theatre itself”, said King. “We teach them about terms involved with theatre and how to act while on stage; on top of that we add in a bunch of fun stuff such as crafts, games, and movies. So it is a week full of stuff from 8:00am until 5:00pm.”

The performance will be open to the public on this Friday beginning at 6:00pm.

Student tickets are two dollars and adult admission will be five dollars.
