Elbert vs. Franklin Recap

November 11, 2013

The Blue Devil offense showed out Friday against Franklin County putting up 53 points against the Lions. The Devils put up 34 points in the 1st quarter alone. Just 30 seconds in Marquice Dye took off on a jet sweep for a 59 yard TD run. The Devil defense would force a turnover on downs and QB Mecole Hardman would get the Devil offense down the field. This would allow Zac Allen to punch the ball in from 8 yards out to take the Devils up 13-0. The Lions would fumble on their own 3 yard line which the Devils would recover and again Zac Allen would go in for the score. Another fumble from Franklin deep in their territory would lead to a Tim White TD. The Lions would again be stopped on a 4th down which would lead to a Mecole Hardman 46 yard pass to Dye for another TD to make the score 34-0 in favor of Elbert.

The Lions would finally be able to get on the board with a 19 yard pass early in the second quarter. With the younger guys coming in the game would slow down a bit; however, Tim White would take a jet sweep up the middle to take the score to 40-7 going into the half.

Franklin County would get the ball to start the second half and put a drive together for a score to make it 40-13. With the back ups in, the Devil offense would slow but do their job of grinding down the clock as they would be forced to punt. This would lead to another Franklin County score midway through the 3rd.

Early in the 4th quarter the Devils would find themselves with the ball deep in Lions territory and Tim White would again find the endzone and take the Devils up 46-19. With just over 9 minutes left in the game Franklin would put together a drive and pass for a TD from 7 yards out. From here Elbert would really start working the clock and thanks to some good runs from Zac Allen to get down the field he would yet again go in for a score to make it 53-25 which would be the final.

As the number one seed heading into the playoffs the Devils will welcome Cedar Grove into the Granite Bowl Friday night.
