A show of gratitude from the Granite City Cook-Off Committee towards the Elberton City Council, during Monday’s regular council meeting.
Representing the committee Monday evening, Reverend Jon Barnett said they were really appreciative for the city’s efforts in making the event a success.
“I’d like to thank the city council and the city manager for what y’all did for the cook-off”, said Barnett. “Especially the city manager, I think they gave away three items during ElbertonNET’s customer appreciation day during the cook-off.”
Returning the gratitude was Elberton Mayor Larry Guest, who commended Barnett and the committee’s hard work on making the annual Granite City Cook-Off into what it has become today.
“I want to thank you, because you have done an excellent job, it grows every year and it really is one of the big things in our community”, said Mayor Guest. “I really appreciate what you are doing and what you will continue to do.”
Barnett said he will continue to ask that the city help with event, as to help make it grow even more.
Barnett also requested that the second Saturday in September be set aside for the Granite City Cook-Off to help make it easier to plan and organize the event.
