Elberton Couple Arrested on Drug Related Objects

A pair of Elberton residents was arrested on numerous drug related charges in the early morning hours of Wednesday.

According to Special Operations Officer Michael Davis with the Elberton Police Department, State Probation officials were conducting monthly rounds at a Granite Street address when they discovered some drug related objects.

Davis said further investigation led to an arrest.

“Upon contact with one of the individuals on Granite Street, they found some drug related items”, said Officer Davis. “They eventually made arrests, and further investigation led to a quantity of meth and marijuana being found at the residence.”

Arrested were 45-year-old Johnnie Clark Maxwell and 37-year-old Michelle Leann Thomas, both of which live at the Granite Street address that was searched.

After being arrested, both were transported to the Elbert County Detention Center. No word still on if bond has been set.

Both are charged with one count each of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Methamphetamines, as well as five counts of drug related objects.
