Elberton Mayor Wants Mayor’s Cup back in Elberton

November 5, 2013

The Mayor’s Cup still remains in Hartwell – that’s according to Elberton Mayor Larry Guest.

Each year, the respective mayors of the cities of Hartwell and Elberton, put a trophy on the line based on the result of the Elbert County vs. Hart County football game.

The last couple of years the trophy has sit comfortably in Hartwell, but after the Blue Devils narrow defeat of Hart County a couple of weeks ago, Mayor Larry Guest is wanting that trophy back in Elberton.

“Since Elbert County beat Hart County a couple of weeks ago, we need to get our trophy back”, said Mayor Guest lightheartedly. “I am in hopes you all will help us out and see if the mayor can get us the trophy back. I know she is in a hot race over there, but that trophy is important to us.”

The Blue Devils snagged a 23-21 victory over the Bulldogs on October 25th in Herndon Stadium.

After yesterday evening’s Elberton City Council meeting, Mayor Larry Guest said he looks forward to welcoming the Mayor’s Cup back to the city of Elberton.
