The City of Elberton is moving forward with the White’s Chapel Road water main project, after receiving authorization from the city council earlier this week.
Even still, the project is not expected to be complete for at least several months, the city plans on handling a majority of the work in house, but bids have to be sent out for some of the work that can not be done by the city. This including having to bore under a railroad that crosses the road.
The full cost estimate of the project is just over eighty thousand dollars, but when the in house labor and equipment is factored in, the net cost of the construction is slightly over sixty-seven thousand dollars.
The council voted unanimously to get the project underway as soon as possible.
