Elks Lodge Holds Flag Day Ceremony Over the Weekend

June 16, 2014

The Elks Lodge is coming off its annual Flag Day celebration ceremony.

On Saturday, members from the Elks Lodge gathered at the Elbert County Senior Center to honor the birth of the American Flag, and paid respects to all the sacrifices and achievements made under the flag.

Exhaulted Ruler of the Elks Jim Boyd said the purpose of this ceremony was to honor the American Flag.

“To celebrate the anniversary of its birth and to recall the achievements obtained beneath its fold”, said Boyd. “It is quite appropriate that such a service be held by the order of the Elks, an organization that is distinctively American, intentionally patriotic, and without counterpart.”

Following the conclusion of the ceremonies, Boyd presented a pair of scholarships to two Elbert County High School graduates.

The first was presented to Amelia Moon, and the other scholarship was awarded to Brandon Seagers.
