EMH CEO Jim Yarborough Updates County Commissioners

April 8, 2013

It’s been just over a month and a half since the AnMed Health/Elbert Memorial Hospital affiliation agreement was finalized.

During the Elbert County Board of Commissioners work session late last week, CEO Jim Yarborough went before the commissioners to give them a summary and update of the benefits of the affiliation.

Yarborough pointed out that AnMed has committed a good chunk of change in terms of recruiting new doctors to this area.

“They’ve also agreed to fund $200,000 per year for the first five years for physician recruiting”, said Yarborough. “As you can see they have committed a million dollars over five years to bring more doctors to Elbert County.”

AnMed Health is also committing 1.5 million dollars for a feasibility study of constructing a new hospital to replace Elbert Memorial.

That money includes the cost of different studies, surveying, and even architectural plans.

Yarborough said that AnMed is definitely committed to the future of the medical well being of our community.

“If you add all of those financial commitments in this affiliation, AnMed actually stepped up and committed 2.85 million dollars in total for the first five years”, said Yarborough.”

The affiliation/management agreement between AnMed and Elbert Memorial is for a five year time frame, which was approved at the February Hospital Authority meeting.
