Lane closures will continue for the next two weeks on the State Route 10 Loop in Athens at Peter and Olympic Streets for installation of drainage pipes, as per an announcement from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The lane closures are planned weekdays from 9:00am till 4:00pm on the northbound lane of the outer loop for about one half mile on each side of the Peter/Olympic Streets intersection with the loop.
The work was contracted out to E.R. Snell Contracting Inc. of Snellville, Georgia at a cost of $14.5 million dollars.
The project will build an interchange at the existing intersection of State Route 10 Loop and Peter/Olympic Streets, and is expected to be completed by May 31, 2015.
E.R. Snell is handling several projects in Northeast Georgia, including two in Elbert County; the resurfacings of State Routes 172 and 368.
