The Georgia Department of Transportation is hosting its final public meeting and hearing in Northeast Georgia for the Draft FY 2015 – 2018 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
Georgia DOT Spokesperson Teri Pope says rural counties have their projects planned for them over the next several years due to a lack of resources.
“For counties that are not part of the metropolitan areas, our more rural counties, Georgia DOT does their transportation planning for t hem,” Pope said. “So for rural counties we have these open houses annually to show citizens what is being funded for the next four years with federal money.”
The Georgia DOT District One Office’s final meeting is scheduled for tomorrow evening in Elbert County where the public can view the Draft FY 15-18 STIP, view maps of projects in the local area, discuss projects with GDOT staff, and formally offer comments
The Elbert County Public Library will host the meeting, tomorrow beginning at 5:00pm and lasting until 7:00pm.
The meetings are open to the public and all are encouraged and welcome to attend.
For those who can not attend the public meeting, the Draft FY 15-18 STIP will also be available on the internet at www.dot.ga.gov/stip.
