Five Arrested in a Pair of Drug Busts Over the Weekend

A pair of drug busts over the weekend in Elbert County, land five in Jail.

According to Lt. Terry Reese, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office set up a controlled buy on Friday the 13th, which led to the arrests of 26-year-old David Thornton and 49-year-old Chris Bassett.

Both were charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Use of a Communication Device to Facilitate a Drug Transaction.

Bassett is also charged with Possession of Marijuana.

That was only part one of this weekends activities.

“The Sheriff’s Office was then able to further that investigation, which led to a narcotics search warrant being executed on Country Club Road, three suspects were arrested on Marijuana, Obstruction of Justice, and Simple Battery on Law Enforcement charges”, said Lt. Reese.

Those three are identified as 49-year-old Caesar Arroyo, 23-year-old Heather Pearson, and 22-year-old Victoria Ivester.

All five were transported to the Elbert County Detention Center after their arrests; all were later released on bond.
