An Elberton man remains in custody today at the Elbert County Detention Center on a Peeping Tom charge.

According to Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews, on January 9th deputies responded to a Hartwell Highway home on a call about a peeping tom.

Further investigation by the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office led to the Wednesday arrest of 34-year-old Michael Anthony Barren of a Flatwoods Road address.

Sheriff Andrews said the victim was able to identify Barren from a photograph, which is what Andrews said led to warrants being taken out for Barren’s arrest.

Barren is charged with one count of Peeping Tom and three counts Felony Probation Violation.

Barren currently remains behind bars with bond only set on the Peeping Tom charge, according to Andrews, a hold is still being placed on Barren by the probation office.
