Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are assisting the Franklin County Sheriff’s office in looking into the death of a two-month old baby.
It happened early last week, according to Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas.
Thomas said his deputies and EMS responded to call at a home on Highway 59 in Carnesville.
“The unit responded to a 911 call,” Thomas said. “The mother said her baby was hurt and was not breathing right. EMS responded to the call and my deputy actually drove the ambulance to Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center while EMT’s worked on the baby. From there, the child was airlifted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta.”
The baby was put on life-support but died last Tuesday.
Thomas said EMT’s determined the baby had head injuries, but the cause of the injuries has not yet been determined.
The body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta.
Thomas said GBI agents continue to talk to the parents and conduct interviews but no charges or arrests have been made in this case.
The identity of the parents has not been released.
