Georgia DOT Announces Resurfacing Project in Wilkes County

March 14, 2013

With the announcement earlier this week of twenty more new projects by the Georgia Department of Transportation, two of which are in Elbert County, it was announced that Wilkes County will be receiving some improvements to State Route 17.

According to a release from the Georgia DOT, just over fifteen miles of SR 17 will be resurfaced beginning north of Farmer Road and extending all the way to the Elbert County line.

The project was awarded to low bidder Pittman Construction Company, based out of Conyers, Georgia, in the amount of just over 2.5 million dollars.

Estimated completion date for the project is January 31st, 2014.
