With the cold weather quickly arriving, the Georgia Department of Transportation has announced plans to improve safety on numerous state routes by trimming roadside vegetation.

Georgia DOT crews will continue work today trimming vegetation on State Route 368, 72, and 79 in Elbert County.

In Hart County, crews will trim vegetation along State Route 17.

Additional work will also take place in Elbert County this week, which will include crews servicing driveways and unpaved roads that intersect with the newly resurfaced State Route 172.

Weather permitting; work will continue all this week until Friday, November 8th between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm.

Georgia DOT officials are asking motorists traveling through these and other work areas to reduce speed, use extra caution, and to be alert to changing traffic conditions.
