The Georgia Department of Transportation announces the return of routine maintenance activities in Elbert and surrounding counties this week.
In Elbert County, a crew will repair the shoulders of the roadway alongside State Route 77 and State Route 72; that work will require the shoulders to be closed.
In Franklin County, mowing and vegetation trimming will take place on State Routes 327, 51, 145, 106, and 281.
More mowing will be done in Hart County, as a crew will mow the shoulders alongside State Route 172 and State Route 8/US 29.
Finally, in Madison County, lots of work gets underway, which includes a crew repairing the edge rutting at the edge of pavement on State Route 72, followed by shoulder repairs occurring on State Route 106 and 174.
All crews will work from today until Friday June 20th between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm, as long as weather allows.
Georgia DOT officials urge motorists to use extra caution through these areas over by reducing speed and being alert to changing traffic conditions.
