Georgia DOT Planning Traffic Shift Today in Athens, GA

August 7, 2013

A major traffic shift is planned for today in Athens, GA; assuming the weather cooperates today.

The reason for the shift is due to a project where a new interchange is being constructed on the State Route 10 Loop, Peter Street, and Olympic Street intersection to replace the existing signalized intersection.

The shift is expected to begin around 9:00am this morning and to be completed in the late evening hours.

Motorists traveling to the area should be aware of lane closures and heavy traffic delays in the previously mentioned areas.

This project was contracted out to E.R. Snell Contracting Inc. out of Snellville, GA.

If that company sounds familiar, it’s because they handled the State Route 368 resurfacing project, and are currently working on the State Route 172 resurfacing project here in Elbert County.
