The Elbert Memorial Hospital Wellness Center raised some serious cash during their 8th Annual One Mile Fun Run and 5K Race this past Saturday.

Lindsay McCurley, who was one of the organizers of the event, said they had great participation.

“We had a great turnout; we had over seventy participants in the 5K and in the Fun Run. Everybody had a wonderful time”, said McCurley.

The event raised over two thousand dollars to benefit programs that are offered by the Wellness Center.

McCurley said that this was the first year that the awards were handed out in Sutton Park.

“One of the things we did new this year was to have all the festivities and awards ceremonies down at the finish line in Sutton Park”, explained McCurley. “Everyone seemed to enjoy being able to use the park. We have such wonderful amenities thanks to our Mayor Larry Guest, and many others.”

Overall female winner for the 5K was Tanner Guest, Overall Male was Dillon Anderson, Master Female was Sandy Adams, and Master Male was Clint Watkins.
