It happened Monday evening, according to Hartwell Police investigator Captain Paul Agnew, when an argument developed between three men.

Agnew said 39-year old Jermaine Hisson Blassingame and his uncle Charles David Oglesby were sitting in a drive through at the Corner Store on Forest Avenue when another man, identified as SBrian Mitchell, aka “City” came out of the store and began arguing with them.

Agnew said the three men went their separate ways but Blassingame then drove by Mitchell’s home on Colfax St in Hartwell.

“After the altercation, they drove off from the store and a short time later returned to the street where Mr. Mitchell lives, and shots were fired striking Mr. Oglesby in the head,” Agnew said.

Agnew said he first told police Mitchell fired at him without provocation, but witnesses gave investigators a different story.

“As they drove past Mitchell’s house, several witnesses told me Jermaine discharged a firearm into the air and Sabrian Mitchell returned fire and shot back into the car. When he did, he hit David Oglesby right across the forehead,” Agnew said.

Agnew said Oglesby has identified Mitchell as the man who shot him, but Mitchell remains at large.

Meantime, Blassingame has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and driving without a license.  He’s also wanted in Hart County for back child support.

Mitchell also faces aggravated assault charges as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
