Identity Still Not Released for Deceased Person Found in Elbert County

The identity has still not yet been released of the deceased person that was discovered last Friday.

During a welfare check on Friday, June 21st around 1:30pm at an Anderson Highway residence, deputies that arrived on scene found a person deceased inside of the home.

According to Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews, the autopsy that came back from the GBI Crime Lab in August did confirm that the person died of natural causes.

Andrews said at this time the name is not being released until they can 100% for certain identify the deceased.

He says they are still trying to locate a family member or next of kin for a positive identification.
