The race for the District One County Commissioner seat between Horace Harper and Gary Bennett saw the incumbent hold his seat.

Horace Harper brought in a total of 828 votes in District 1, while Gary Bennett was able to bring in 667 votes from the district. Harper won with just over 55% of the total vote, compared to just over 44% for Gary Bennett.

In a statement, Harper said that he was very appreciative of all the support he received in his re-election bid.

“I’m very happy to be the District One representative for the next four years. I appreciate the votes that I got, and I just want everyone to know I will work as hard as I can to make Elbert County better”, said Harper.

WSGC tried to reach Gary Bennett for comment as well, but was unsuccessfully in making contact.
