Investigation Continues in June 18th Drowning Incident

Investigation still continues into a reported accidental drowning that occurred on June 18th.

According to Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews, autopsy results received back from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Augusta, GA indicate that 29-year-old Meredith Watkins of a Dempsey Brown Road address in Bowman, did indeed drown.

At approximately 1:50am on the 18th, Watkins body was located in the water at the Coldwater Creek Boat Ramp off of State Route 368.

Andrews says that his office is still awaiting the results on the toxicology report before closing the investigation into the case.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation continues to assist in the investigation.
