Investigation into Stabbing Homicide Continues

The investigation into a homicide that occurred late Friday afternoon in Elbert County continues this morning.

On Friday, around 4:30pm, Elbert County 911 received a call of a possible stabbing that had occurred at a Porter Drive address in Elberton, GA.

Responding to the scene was Elbert County Sheriff’s Deputies, Elbert County EMS, and State Probation Officers; upon arrival deputies found 45-year-old Rodney L. McDuffie deceased in the residence.

According to Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews, the victim was stabbed multiple times.

Sheriff Andrews says that they have a suspect for the incident.

“The GBI and District Attorney’s Office was contacted and is assisting in the investigation”, said Andrews. “The death has been ruled a homicide, and at this time we do have a suspect, and do not feel the community is in any danger.”

The name of the suspect still has not yet been released.

The investigation continues, as Andrews says his office is working closely with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the District Attorney’s Office.
