Rain or shine, the 11th Annual Twilight Stroll Running event takes place later this evening.
Elbert County Chamber President Phyllis Brooks says making its return for the third year in a row, will be the “bounty” on last year’s 10.1K best time.
“We are going to have a bounty again this year for the runner who beats last year’s time on the 10K, the winning time last year was 33:25, so get to practicing so you can maybe when that three hundred dollars”, said Brooks.
She says everything begins with the fun run.
“It’s going to begin at 7:00pm, the 5K follows at 7:30pm, and then we have a 10K that will start at 8:30pm. People that run these series, because we do have a 10K, they get credit for three races, so that is why we added the 10K last year”, said Brooks.
Friday evening’s weather forecast is calling for an 80% chance of rain with a low approaching forty-five degrees.
Brooks says that the races will be held despite the weather forecast, she said the only way they would not race, is if lightning makes an appearance this evening.
Pre-registration has been closed for some time, but runners can sign up just prior to race time beginning at 6:00pm, but those who sign up at that point are not guaranteed to receive a shirt.
Registration forms are still available at the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce office.
