Its Election Day in Elbert County – Election Preview

November 5, 2013

Early voting is in the rear view as Election Day is finally here in Elbert County.

Up for grabs this election cycle is a handful of council seats in the Elberton and Bowman municipal elections.

It’s a fairly quiet election this year in the city of Elberton as only Ward 5’s seat is being contested; Incumbent Joel Seymour will face challenge Mart Clamp.

Mayor Larry Guest, Ward 1 Councilman Carey Butler, and Rick Prince who is running for Ward 4’s seat all face no opposition.

Those voting in the Elberton election will do so in the court room at Elberton City Hall.

In Bowman, it’s a different story; three council seats are up this year with five candidates running.

Since Bowman does not have wards or districts, the top three with the highest votes will claim the seats.

Running for the vacant seats are Incumbent Betty Jo Maxwell, Scott Harpold, Marion Herring, Rachel Felice, and Calvin Bridges.

The much anticipated mayoral election will be between Incumbent Pamela Johnson and current Mayor Pro Tem Pete Gibbons.

Bowman residents can cast their ballots at the Bowman Community Center.

Polls open this morning at 7:00am and will remain open until 7:00pm.
