Admitted Cop Killer Jamie Hood to Stand Trial in Athens

July 22, 2014

Nearly three years ago an Athens-Clarke County police officer was gunned down in the line of duty and another was injured.

As first reported by the Athens Banner Herald, it has been decided by Western Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard that admitted cop killer Jamie Hood will stand trial in Athens.

Also in his decision Judge Haggard stated that jurors will be selected from Elbert County and transported to Athens for the trial.

In addition to the admitted killing of Senior Police Officer Elmer “Buddy” Christian III, and wounding SPO Tony Howard in March 2011, Hood is also facing 68 additional charged in a grand jury indictment.
