Looking for work? Well today might be the day when your luck comes about.
The First Baptist Church of Elberton will be holding a job fair today for Elbert County residents.
Lead Pastor of the Church Raymond Scott says they are expecting between fifteen and thirty employers present at the fair.
“Companies such as caterpillar is going to be here, some of our local industry will be here between 3:00pm and 6:00pm”, said Scott. “We are trying to build a bridge between potential employees and employers, and having a consistent presence in that as a church, just letting the community know that we care about them.”
He says that this is a great opportunity for those who may have been out of work for a while, or who have just recently found themselves unemployed.
“It goes from entry point to what is your skill set to filling out applications and how to do job interviews”, said Scott. “We are just trying to think about the whole scope of the process, and trying to cover the whole gambit that goes with landing a job.”
As mentioned earlier, today’s job fair will be held at the First Baptist Church’s Recreational Outreach Center (ROC) from 3:00pm until 6:00pm this evening.
The event is open to anyone who hears about it according to Scott.
He also mentions that barbeque sandwiches will be sold during the fair, and all funds raised from those sales will be put back into the community.
