The first official organized event is coming up this weekend for the Keep Elbert County Beautiful chapter of the Keep America Beautiful organization.

The event is a recycling “happy hour”, which will help Elbert County residents dispose of certain items that are usually difficult to recycle.

Elbert County Administrator Bob Thomas goes into detail about what items will be accepted.

“Batteries, electronics, automobile tires (limit four), and paint”, said Thomas. “These are all items that are really hard to get rid of. We hope the community comes out and participates, because these items are ones that are not easy to get rid of.”

For those wanting to drop off tires, some important information to keep in mind is that you have to have a valid Georgia Drivers’ License, and be able to pay a two dollar fee per tire.

This event is open to all Elbert County residents, and will take place this Saturday November 23rd, from 8:00am until 12:00pm at the Elberton Recycling Center located off of Martin Luther King Boulevard.
