The Elbert County basketball teams travelled to Bogart, GA to take on the North Oconee Titans yesterday.
The Lady Devils struggled in the first half as they seemed to be out rebounded throughout. This led to a 30-18 lead for the Lady Titans at the end of the first half. Jimera Hill and Cyiarra Hill would lead in scoring for the Lady Devils with four apiece. The Lady Devils would start the third quarter strong but were not able to keep it up. The Girls would take their first region loss and their first loss in six games. Bri Moon led in scoring for the Lady Devils with 15 points and was named Tri-County Technical College player of the game and Jimera Hill followed with 11.
Against my prediction of the Blue Devils having high offensive production against the Titans, the first half was anything but. The Blue Devils were down at the half by three with a 27-24 score. Marc Moon was leading in scoring for the Blue Devils with 8 points and his brother Jay Jay and Ben Routh both had 7. The Boys started the second half slow but were able to reclaim the lead midway through the third quarter, and really heated up in the fourth. The Blue Devils extended their lead to twelve and came out with a 76-64 victory. Marc Moon led the team in scoring with 22 points. Ben Routh was named Tri-County Technical College player of the game with 20 points and for his spark that got the Devils back in the game in the third. Jay Jay Moon finished with 19 to help propel the Devils to their victory.
The Blue Devil and Lady Devil basketball teams will be back in action on Friday, January 18th to take on Jackson County in the Inferno. Those games will be aired live on 1400AM and 96.5FM The Voice of Elberton and streamed live on wsgcradio.com
