The Elbert County JROTC Raider Team’s final fundraising event of the year comes to a close this morning.
Raider Team Coach Master Sergeant Al Homer discussed what the fundraiser will help cover.
“Its going to go towards all the fuel costs for the traveling, registration fees for competitions, t-shirts and equipment, and even down to the snacks and drinks for the team while we are on the road”, said Homer.
The fundraiser is a raffle, in which there will be three winners. The grand prize is a fifty foot slab of granite, which is valued at $3,500 and is available in three different colors; it can be used in any way the winner chooses. Second prize is a $300 cash prize, and third prize is a $200 cash prize.
Homer said that if someone who enters doesn’t need the granite, that there will be someone who will gladly take it off their hands.
“If they sell a ticket and the winner doesn’t need a granite counter top, I made a challenge to the cadets that I would buy the winning ticket for five hundred dollars”, said Homer.
The granite slab was donated by Slabco, and all the installation work is being done at no charge by Bradford Granite.
Tickets are $20 each, and a group of six tickets can be purchased for $100. The deadline to purchase tickets is this morning by10:00am. Tickets can be purchased at the ROTC Building at the campus of the Elbert County Comprehensive High School. The drawing will occur later this afternoon.
Winners will be announced exclusively on WSGC on Friday, December 7th during each of our local newscasts on 105.3 WSGC.
