For well over fifty years, cities across Georgia have brought joy to patients at the state’s mental health hospitals through the Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade program, and the City of Elberton will be doing its part to make the holiday season special for residents at those hospitals.
Elberton Mayor Larry Guest says that Elberton has participated in this program since it began back in 1958.
The City of Elberton is asking that new unwrapped gifts be turned in to the Elberton Fire Department no later than today, December 11th.
Mayor Guest explains what kind of gifts they are looking to receive.
“They can bring us socks, underwear, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sweat pants for men or women, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and other similar items”, detailed the Mayor. “You know these aren’t luxuries, these are necessities.”
The gifts will be delivered to East Central Regional Hospital in August, GA on December 12th.
Those wanting more information about what to give, or more information about the program can contact Cindy Churney at Elberton City Hall by calling (706) 213-3105.
