Lincoln County’s football season came to an end Friday night against the Dooly County Bobcats.
Lincoln County would receive the opening kick to start the game but would be forced to punt. Dooly County would have trouble moving the ball as well. The teams would exchange punts until Dooly would turn the ball over on a fumble. The Red Devils would recover and put a drive together but would turn the ball over on their own 10 yard line. There would be no score at the end of the 1st.
Dooly would be forced to punt after recovering the turnover. Lincoln County would still not be able to get the ball moving and punt back to the Bobcats. Dooly would put a drive together which would lead to a 31 yard field goal. With 3:35 left until halftime the Bobcats would kickoff to the Red Devils who would put a drive together and get to the Dooly 25 yard line. The Red Devils would set up for a field goal with .7 left in the half; however, the kick would be blocked and returned for a touchdown by Dooly County. A good extra point would take the score to 10-0 going into the half.
The 3rd quarter would be much like the 1st with no score. The teams would punt back and forth with neither team being able to move the ball.
Dooly would take the ball into the 4th quarter but would be forced to punt. The teams would again exchange punts. The Red Devils came close to the endzone after a pass got them down to the Dooly 5 yard line but would turn the ball over on downs. With under 3 minutes left Dooly would go for a punt but a bad snap would put the ball in the endzone and the Red Devil special teams would recover for a touchdown. A good extra point would take the score to 10-7. The Red Devils would not recover the onside kick but would force a punt out of the Bobcats with 40 seconds left. The Red Devils would fail in their attempts to pass down field, thus ending the season for the Lincoln County Red Devils. Your final score Dooly County 10 Lincoln County 7.
In AA, the Jefferson Dragons took care of Greater Atlanta Christian in a 42-14 victory. The Dragons will take on Calhoun next week. Calhoun defeated Lamar County in a 21-14 victory.
And in AAA Buford was able to defeat unbeaten Cartersville and their high powered offense 21-10. They will take on St. Pius, who defeated North Hall 31-6, for the championship next week.
