Lincoln County will battle Dooly County in a semifinal battle for the championship game tonight. This game is the 30th time the Red Devils have made an appearance in the semifinals, setting a new Georgia High School record. The last time these teams met was in 1998 and Lincoln County came out on top in a solid win in the quarterfinals. The Red Devils do have the edge on the offensive side of the ball with RB Mike McIntire totaling 1,315 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. The Red Devils have been averaging around 33 points per game; whereas, the Bobcats have averaged 27. The average amount of points allowed per game are at a .2 difference with Lincoln County allowing 12 points per game and Dooley allowing 11.8. The winner will go on to face the winner of the Wilcox County and Emanuel County Institute game for the championship.

In AA, T. McFerrin and his Jefferson Dragons will take on Greater Atlanta Christian tonight. The Dragons have won 12 games in a row after losing their first game against rival Commerce. Both QBs in this game have passed for over 2,000 yards this season so expect a lot of that. The victor in this game will face the winner between Lamar County and Calhoun.

In AAA Buford is back in the semifinals for the 6th consecutive year to take on unbeaten Cartersville. The Wolves tough defense will look to stop the Purple Hurricanes high powered spread offense. The Purple Hurricane QB has passed for over 2,600 yards and has 38 touchdown passes this season. The winner here will face the winner between St. Pius Catholic School and North Hall.


The Blue Devil basketball squads will be back in action this Friday and Saturday. The squads will travel to Oglethorpe on Friday December 7th. Both the guys and girls basketball teams have been successful against the Patriots the last few years and will look to keep that trend going. On Saturday December 8th the Devils will travel to Rabun County to take on the Wildcats. The Wildcats defeated the Guy’s last season in a 67-65 victory; however; the Lady Devils defeated the Lady Wildcats in a 1 point 54-53 victory.

The Elbert Blue Devil wrestling team will be in action today and tomorrow December 8th at the West Laurens Invitational in Dexter, GA.
