Good news for Elbert County residents who frequent the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, Tennessee areas.
Newfound Gap Road, better referred to as US 441, reopened earlier this week exactly one month ahead of schedule.
The road closed back in January after a massive landslide took out a large section of the road.
The news of the reopening comes just before the peak tourism season, which is heavily relied upon by the states of North Carolina and Tennessee.
Phillips and Jordan Inc. were awarded to the contract to repair the road back in February.
Total price of construction, factoring in incentives to finish early, come in just under $4.8 million.
