Manhunt Continues for Elberton Man Wanted in Connection with Sunday Morning Shooting

The manhunt continues for 25 year old Tyson Dantrail Evans, who is wanted for his connection with a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning.

According to police reports, the incident began with a verbal altercation during a party between the victim, whose identity has not been released, and Evans. After the altercation Evans’ mother Vicki Evans shoved the victim and the victim pushed back. It was at this time that Evans pulled a gun and began firing. The weapon was discharged two to three times, with one of the rounds striking the victim.

Elberton Police Chief Mark Welsh said that warrants have been obtained for felony charges relating to the incident.

“At this point in the investigation warrants have been secured for Mr. Evans on numerous felony charges”, said Chief Welsh. “The U.S. Marshalls Office and several other agencies are assisting us in trying to locate him. Evans is a fugitive and he is on the run at this point and time.”

Evans was recently released after serving six years of a thirty year prison sentence on August 1st, 2012, but was arrested in late August on a parole warrant. He was released from the Elbert County Detention Center shortly afterwards on September 7th, 2012. Chief Welsh says that Evans is still to be considered armed and dangerous.

“Again we want to caution people not to approach Mr. Evans he is considered violent and dangerous”, said Chief Welsh. “This again is another example of somebody that still should have been in the state penitentiary for committing violent crimes, who has been released and continues to victimize our community.”

Evans has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Pointing a Gun at Another Person, Reckless Conduct, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Discharged a Firearm on the Property of Another.

Also, 46 year old Vicki Lynn Evans was arrested in connection with case. During the incident Mrs. Evans was allegedly beating the shooting victim with a bar stool after he had been shot.

Mrs. Evans was charged with aggravated assault for her actions.
