McMurry Named GDOT’s Chief Engineer

Long-time Georgia Department of Transportation executive Russell McMurry has been named the Department’s Chief Engineer.  He will succeed Gerald Ross, who retires December 31.

A native of Hart County, McMurry currently serves as Director of Engineering Services for the Georgia DOT.  He previously spent five years as the Department’s District Engineer for Northeast Georgia as well as holding several other positions in that region and on the Department’s general office staff.

McMurry, a licensed Professional Engineer, has worked for the Georgia DOT since 1990.  He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology.
