More Charges Expected for Comer, GA Man

In Madison County, more charges are expected for a Comer man charged with kidnapping and possession of explosives and drugs.

Comer Police Chief Dennis Bell said 30-year old Antonio Meadows allegedly kidnapped his girlfriend from her home in Athens on December 21st and was holding her at his home in Comer.

Bell said when officers went to Meadows’ in Comer to arrest him on kidnapping charges they found the explosives and drugs.

“When officers entered the arrest to place Meadows under arrest, Meadows was attempting to destroy evidence that officers believed to be methamphetamine,” Bell said. “Officers then obtained a search warrant to search for drugs and other evidence. While searching the residence, officers found two explosive devices.”

Bell said they also found stolen property and evidence related to the kidnapping.

Meadows is charged with one count of kidnapping.

Bell said the victim, whose name has not been released, is back home safe.

Bell said Meadows is known to law enforcement and has other charges pending in other counties related to other female victims.

Meadows remains in the Madison County Jail without bond.
