A suspect has finally been identified for the string of burglaries that took place at the Fusion Restaurant on Elberton’s downtown square.
On Thursday, the Elberton Police department issued several warrants for the arrest of 23-year-old Shaquita Nicole Holland.
The burglaries occurred in early and mid December of 2012.
Investigator Scott Maurnich says that Holland was initially questioned back in December.
“During this one Holland left an item that was identifiable to her on the scene, two days later we brought Holland in for questioning”, said Maurnich. “She gave us here story, and she was then released.”
Maurnich said through investigation that they were able to determine that Holland’s alibi did not check out.
“We then brought in other folks and conducted time line interviews, and eventually subpoenaed phone records for several suspects involved”, said Maurnich. “Through phone records, physical evidence, and testimonial evidence we were able to determine Holland was lying, and that she did not have an alibi for the burglary.”
Soon after Investigators issued warrants on two counts of burglary and two counts of criminal trespassing.
The Elberton Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Holland.
If anyone has any information on her whereabouts they can contact the police department at (706) 213-3130 or 9-1-1 in an emergency situation.
