Mrs. Odevence C. Samuel, age 88, of 938 Taggart Ave. Ext. Greenwood, S.C., formally of Elberton, GA, widow of Mr. Habert Samuel, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood, S.C.
Mrs. Samuel was born in Elberton, GA, and she was the daughter of the late Bennie Cade and the late Louvenia Huff. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Women’s Aide Society, the Order of the Eastern Star #337, and the Taggart & Russell Street Community Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Habert Samuel; two sons, Bennie L. Samuel and Bobby Neal Samuel, one daughter, Sarah Willis Samuel.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons: Hoyt (Abby) Samuel, Cleveland, Ohio, John W. (Rev. Carrie) Samuel, Greenwood, SC, L.G. (Mary) Samuel, Waterloo, S.C., and Jerry (Sara) Samuel, both of Mauldin, SC; one daughter: Mary S. (Jonnie) Morton, of the Promised Land Community; two sisters: Ellen (Willie) Norman, and I.D. Rice, both of Elberton, GA; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; great-great children; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral service, 1 P.M., Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Greenwood, SC., conducted by Rev. Ulysses Parks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Samuel will be place in the church at 12:00 noon, until the hour of service.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Samuel, 938 Taggart Ave. Ext., Greenwood, S.C.
