The NAACP brought out the big guns in regards to the firing of former middle school principal Paul Garret during last night’s Elbert County Board of Education Meeting. As the Georgia State President of the NAACP Edward Dubose was in attendance, and spoke during the meeting.
“I think I may not speak for everybody on this issue, because everyone came out united for Bowman, but I also speak out on another issue”, said Dubose. “That issue is Reverend Paul Garrett, who is one of your principals in the school system that was terminated. We stand united with Reverend Garret in this situation.”
Garret’s contract was not renewed for the upcoming school year. He has since filed a lawsuit against Elbert County School Superintendent Rick Higginbotham, and the Elbert County Board of Education. Citing racial discrimination as the reason he was let go.
