The Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence is planning a fundraising event for Thursday, September 26th.
Planned for that evening is a silent auction as well as a live auction.
Council Board Member and Treasurer Henley Cleary explains where exactly the funds raised during the auctions will go.
“Will help support the programs we present to both the adults and children, it will help with extras at the shelter, and also help with greater public awareness in all three counties”, said Cleary.
Currently the group has one location in Hart County, but they serve Elbert and Franklin counties in addition to Hart.
Cleary says they are trying to raise awareness in Elbert and Franklin Counties.
“With only one shelter in Hart County the focus has really been in that area”, explained Cleary. “We’re trying to expand and find opportunities in the other two counties.”
She says the organization’s goal is to open a second location in either Elbert or Franklin County.
Again, the auctions will be held on September 26th, with the silent auction beginning at 5:00pm and the live auction to follow at 6:30pm.
The Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence was established in 1995, and its first and only shelter so far was opened in August 2001.
