The Elbert County Board of Education has approved a new five year local facilities plan.
During last night’s regular meeting, the board accepted the plan recommended by the Facilities Team and School Superintendent Rick Higginbotham.
The plan will provide guidance for the full five years on how to handle the school system’s facilities in accordance to the State Board of Education’s rules and regulations.
Higginbotham said that the plan offered a couple of commendations for the board and superintendent.
“The committee did commend the superintendent and board of education for the steps they took in the consolidation process”, said Higginbotham. “And for being able to provide the best education possible for the students, and being fiscally responsible to the citizens of Elbert County.”
The other was for the school system’s partnership with the Mountain Education Charter High School and the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
The resolution to accept the five year plan passed with a unanimous four to zero vote, as board member P Jo Phelps was not present at the meeting.
