Nine Arrested in Meth Lab Bust in Elbert County

A total of nine Elbert County residents were arrested as a result of a meth lab bust by the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and State Probation Officers.

On March 28th, Elbert County Sheriff Deputies teamed with State Probation Officers to visit several homes of individuals on probation.

Around 8:30pm that evening, Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews, said deputies went to 1989 Deep Creek Road.

“Upon entering the residence, deputies located a Methamphetamine lab in operation. At that time everyone exited the residence”, said Sheriff Andrews. “Two certified meth lab officers, Investigator Vic Green with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, and Lt. Tammy Gillard responded to the scene and cleared the lab. Lt. Terry Reese and Lt. Darren Scarborough processed and collected evidence from the scene. The GBI was notified and a Hazmat crew responded to the scene for clean-up.”

Elbert County Fire Department and EMS crews also responded to the scene to assist in the clean-up.

As a result of the bust, Sheriff Andrews said that a sizeable amount of Crystal Meth was found at the residence.

“Approximately ½ gallon of Meth Oil was located at the lab, and an additional quantity of meth was discovered on a mirror inside the residence along with a quantity of crystal meth on the person of Thomas Conn with an estimated street value of $140,000”, said Sheriff Andrews.

Arrested were Thomas and Aileen Conn of the Deep Creek Road address on charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Theft by Receiving; Roger Bellew of a Fork Creek Road address was arrested on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Obstruction.

Marcus Allen of West Tate Street, Joey Bryant of a Beaver Run Ext. address, and Curtis Moss of a Lexington Highway address were all arrested on Probation Violation charges.

Jason Bradberry of Woodyard Road was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of Battery. Walter Harris of a White Chapel Road residence was arrested on Simple Battery and Obstruction charges.

And Matthew Davis of a Porter Drive address was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Related Object, Possession of Cocaine, and Crossing Guard Line with Controlled Substance.

All nine were transported to the Elbert County Detention Center after their arrests, and so far, no word on if bond was set or posted by any of those arrested.
