After being closed for nearly four months, Old Hull Road in Athens, GA has finally be reopened to through traffic announced the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The section of the road from Fourth Street to North Avenue was the portion that had been closed for so long.
However, work on the road will continue, as crews still have to lay down the final smooth driving surface, put in place permanent striping, and finish up concrete work, which includes curbing and sidewalks.
The remaining work will occur during off peak hours between 9:00am and 4:00pm each day until work is completed, motorists traveling through the area should expect a single lane closure to be in place at all times.
Earlier this year, the 0.62 mile long project was awarded to McCoy Grading of Greenville, GA at a contract price of $2.07 million dollars.
The project completion date set forth by the Georgia DOT is December 31st, 2014.
