Over $5K in Phones Stolen from Elberton Business

January 31, 2013

Investigators with the Elberton Police Department are piecing together the details of a burglary that occurred at an Elberton business.

Investigator Mike Seymour said that the police department responded to an alarm just before 3:00am on Tuesday, January 22nd, at the Verizon Wireless store located off of Heard Drive.

Seymour said that the suspect/suspects were in and out pretty quick.

“Once officers arrived on scene they observed that the front window had been broken out”, said Seymour. “Person or persons had entered the locked storage room, kicked the door down, and took several phones; then fled the building.”

After an inventory of the store, it was discovered that a dozen or so phones valued at over $5,000 were missing.

Investigators are still waiting to receive surveillance footage from the Verizon corporate office.

The investigation into the burglary continues by the Elberton Police Department.

Also, in what could be a related incident, the Verizon store in Hartwell, Georgia was broken into as well. At this time it is not known if the two burglaries are related.
