Potential Region Championship Clincher on the Line this Evening in Elbert County

November 1, 2013

A huge game tonight in the Granite Bowl for the Elbert County Blue Devils.

It may not be a fierce a rivalry as Hart County or North Oconee, but what’s on the line tonight is bigger than both, and that is a shot a clinching the Region 8AAA title against the Panthers of Jackson County.

The Blue Devils are coming off two emotionally charged games after close victories against North Oconee and Hart County in consecutive weeks.

Tonight however, the Blue Devils will be playing with heavy hearts, as star linebacker Tim White’s mother passed away unexpectedly recently.

Elbert County Devil Head Coach Sid Fritts says his team has been there to support White.

“Well its affected our whole football family, you go from one end of the spectrum emotionally all the way to the other end in less than twenty four hours”, said Coach Fritts. “Tim is fortunate to have his teammates, and they have been very supportive.”

The Blue Devils take the field this evening at 7:30pm; WSGC’s coverage begins at 7:00pm on 105.3 WSGC with the Pinnacle Bank pregame show.

Also, taking place this evening in conjunction with the Elbert/Jackson game, will be the “Kicking for Her” breast cancer awareness event.

Elbert County fans are asked to “pink out” the Granite Bowl this evening to show their support.

A special section of the Granite Bowl this evening will be designated for breast cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers to sit all together.

Those who were late ordering shirts from Tracie York can go by her salon located near Tena’s Jewelry and pick them up today before 2:00pm.

If you can’t make it at two, then you will be able to pick up your shirts at the game this evening.
