Chicken and poultry houses in Elbert County are a mainstay of the local economy, but an event is coming up targeted at residents who may just have a small backyard flock they take care of.
On January 16th, in Comer, GA the Madison County Extension Office is hosting an education workshop for backyard/small flock poultry owners at the Comer Travel Museum.
Speakers at the event will be Dr. Casey Ritz, UGA Poultry Scientist and Jim Adkins, Director for the Sustainable Poultry Network from Old Fort, NC.
Numerous topics will be discussed such as heritage breeds, breed selection, poultry health, and nutrition.
Cost is twenty dollars per person to participate, and pre-registration is required to attend; the event will begin at 5:30pm.
