The much anticipated 5th Annual TJ and Friends Foundation ride against cancer is coming up on tomorrow morning.
Rainy weather back in May forced the ride to be pushed back from its original date to June 22nd.
TJ and Friends President Gary Purvis says the plan for this year’s ride is to go back to more of the original format.
“Our first ride went up towards Helen, and we are going back towards Helen this time”, said Purvis. “The old west restaurant that was there is now a Western Sizzlin’ and he has a steak and seafood buffet set up for us, so we are heading back there this year.”
So far, in its fifth year of existing, Purvis says he continues to be amazed at the support that Elbert and other counties the foundation serves continue to show.
“We keep coming back to the well thinking there can’t be any more water in the well, but every time we come up the bucket is not dry”, expressed Purvis. “Thank you so much to your listeners, and we really appreciate your support.”
Registration begins at 7:30am Saturday at A&D Cycles.
The ride rolls out right at 9:00am that morning, so Purvis advises anyone wanting to participate to show up and register on time.
Cost to participate in the ride is twenty-five dollars per person, and included in that cost will be an all you can eat buffet lunch in Helen, GA.
So far in 2013, the TJ and Friends Foundation has raised over thirty-seven thousand dollars, and in the five and a half years the foundation has been around; a total of roughly three hundred and sixty thousand dollars have been given to local cancer patients.
