Run-Off Set for Hart County Chief Magistrate Judge Seat

In Hart County, there will be run off in the race for the Hart County Chief Magistrate Judge seat.

Seven candidates were vying for the seat left vacant when former Chief Magistrate Judge Tony Wellborn died suddenly last October.

They include interim magistrate judge Theresa Brown, Kay Sanders Ankerich, Robert W. Cordell, Thomas J. Jordan, Joey Smith, Randy D. Tallent, and Todd C. Townsend.

After the votes were counted from all seven precincts, absentee and provisional, Thomas Jordan and Todd Townsend came out on top.

Jordan received 815 votes or 22.51% of the votes, while Townsend got 880 or 24.31%.

Interim chief magistrate Theresa Brown received 520 votes, Kay Sanders Ankerich received 571 votes, Robert Cordell got 184 votes, Joey Smith received 480 votes, and Randy Tallent got 170 votes.

A run-off election will be held April 16th.
