Several Arrests Made this Weekend by Elbert County Sheriff’s Office

A busy weekend for the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office as several license check points and traffic stops lead to numerous arrests.


On Friday, 50-year-old Debra White of a Cromer Road address was arrested on charges of Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Possession of Open Alcohol Container.

Also arrested Friday, was 39-year-old Olsen Kenneth Huff Jr. of a Second Street residence in Elberton, who was charged with one misdemeanor count of Possession of Marijuana Less than 1oz.


Potentially the biggest arrest came Saturday as a Rayle, GA resident, 30-year-old Kayla Welborn was arrested and now faces several drug related charges such as Possession of a Schedule IV and Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Drugs to be Kept in Original Container.

Welborn is also charged with Defective Tires and Expired Drivers License.


Finally on Sunday another pair of arrests was made as 33-year-old Deitrich Norman from Calhoun Falls, SC was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Excessive Noise from Vehicle.

The other arrest was 20-year-old Julius Markease Strong of a Porter Drive address in Elberton who was arrested and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Under the Age of 21.


All five were transported to the Elbert County Detention Center after their arrests, and all have been released on bond at this time.
